People Strategist: the people side of agricultural business
Specialisms
Sometimes you know something isn’t working in the business, but you can’t quite see what it is. The team isn’t pulling together, a good manager is struggling, good people are leaving or a succession conversation has stalled, and nobody can put their finger on why.
I’m a people strategist, and my work is looking beyond the behaviour to what is going on underneath it. The person who seems resistant to change, the manager who has stopped asking questions, the team that looks fine on paper but doesn’t feel right, there is usually a reason and it is rarely the first one people assume. I help leaders and senior teams step back, understand what’s really happening with their people and work out what needs to change, whether that is through coaching, leadership development, team sessions, training or facilitation.
I started my career in London, working in investment banking, media and property, before spending ten years in a rural surveying company, working alongside landowners, farms and estates. I then trained as a coach and studied positive psychology. I grew up on a Norfolk farm and I’m married to a farmer, so I bring a corporate eye to a sector I know from the inside.
Alongside bespoke work, I have developed two programmes for agricultural businesses, Keeping Good People and Clearer Heads, Stronger Farms.
