Pumpkin Patch Diversification Case Study

Growing a Farm Visitor Business

Overview

A family-run farm had successfully diversified into seasonal visitor attractions, including a pumpkin patch, sunflower patch, Christmas tree picking, corn maze and farm mud run.

The next stage was to increase the appeal of the destination, extend the visitor experience and support further growth.

At a Glance

Client: Family-run farm
Project: New visitor attractions and infrastructure
Funding: Rural England Prosperity Fund
Focus: Rural tourism, diversification and local economic growth

The Challenge

The farm had already established a successful visitor business but wanted to increase visitor numbers and strengthen the business beyond its existing seasonal attractions.

Our Approach

ARC supported the development of the project and the funding application.

The investment included new play equipment and supporting infrastructure to provide additional attractions for families and encourage visitors to spend more time at the farm.

The project built on an existing visitor business attracting around 15,000 visitors a year, with the aim of attracting a further 2,500 visitors annually.

The Result

The project is expected to increase visitor numbers, generate additional income for the farm and support further employment, while increasing spending in the surrounding rural economy.
